Kasturba Institute of Technology (Formerly Known as Kasturba Polytechnic for Women), under the Department of Training and Technical Education, is the second Government Institute established exclusively for women in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It was established in the year 1986 to encourage women to effectively contribute towards economic development. It was initially set up as a guest Institute in the Meerabai Institute Campus at Maharani Bagh. The Institute shifted to its own spacious double storeyed building at Pitampura in 1997.
The Institute is housed in a plot area of 37,067.95 square meters of land consisting of a spacious Academic Complex, Hostel Block, Residential Complex, play ground and parking area. The green belt around the institution provides a shield against noise and air pollution. Kasturba Institute offers full-time diploma and B. Voc. courses in hi-tech and emerging areas of technology.
The National Institute of Technical Teacher’s Training & Research (NITTTR) Chandigarh adjudged this Institute as one of the outstanding Institute in the Northern Region of the country and presented it the Best Polytechnic Award for the year 2006-2007. It was declared the best Polytechnic in 2004 by ISTE at National Convention of Students at Anand, Gujarat and was awarded the best polytechnic award in northern India in 2003 by TTTI, Chandigarh.
Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008
Kasturba Institute of Technology is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institute. The institution received the coveted ISO 9001:2000 certification on 14th July, 2008 from Standardization Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) which is accredited by the internationally recognized “Dutch Council for Accreditation (RvA)”, Netherlands. On 14th July, 2011 the existing ISO system was upgraded to the New Quality Standard ISO 9001:2008. Recertification process of ISO 9001:2008 of this institute is completed in February, 2015. New certificate (Registration No. SQ/ISO 9001/596) has been issued by STQC with validity upto 27th April, 2018.
